If you're between two sizes, go up if you'll wear it over knitwear, down if you want it closer to the body. The sizes are only 1" apart, so either will wear well.

Where the length falls. It's 41" from the shoulder on every size — that's just below the knee at 5'9", mid-calf at 5'6", and lower calf at 5'2".

This is layering outerwear. Size for what you'll wear underneath, not for your usual size in a fitted coat.

The drawstring waist does the shaping. Left loose it hangs straight; pulled in it defines the waist. You are not relying on the cut alone for fit.
